New Class
Healing and Restorative Yoga:
Feeling tired and stressed out? When did you last take in a full deep breath and just let go? Wouldn’t it feel good to have the stress just simply melt away? Don’t you deserve a time out for yourself? Come and experience yoga in a new way. Release and renew with a morning of peaceful pranayama and meditation practice, followed by simple, joint freeing techniques, slow moving asanas, and restorative poses.
Restorative poses supported and stabilized by various props, where one experiences the yoga postures profoundly relaxing and deeply rejuvenating, invoking a natural state of healing, rest and renewal. Supported and passive yoga postures allow the body to naturally release, letting go of deeply held tension and stress. The result is a balanced state of being from the inside out. Instead of doing yoga why not receive yoga?
Appropriate for newcomers at any age or stage of life or in any physical condition,
as well as advanced students who just wish to wind down.
We also provide chair yoga where EVERYONE can practice yoga!
This unique program uses a chair as a prop to assist those who would like to discover yoga but need modification due to injury, limited range of motion or age. The class consists of twists, stretches and true yoga poses where the only limit is your imagination.
You don’t need to be able
to touch your toes before you take a yoga class. That may happen through your
practice or it may not, it is not important. In yoga, you come as you are
and as you dedicate yourself to the practice, the body opens and transforms
along with the mind.
Here are just a few ways yoga improves your health
1) Improved
flexibility, which is one of the most obvious benefits, although during
your first class you may not experience this benefit but if you stick
with it you may even notice aches and pains disappear.
2) When you come in and
out of postures (asanas) you are stretching muscles and moving organs
around which helps increase drainage of the lymph system, which has
a fluid rich in immune cells. The lymphatic system fights infection
and disposes the toxic waste of cellular function.
3) Yoga encourages you to
relax and slow your breath, which is calming and restorative to the
body and mind.
4) Anytime you do a weight
bearing posture you are increasing bone density and strengthening your
skeletal structure.
5)
Certain postures also help to prevent arthritis, as you go in and out
of the eagle pose; for example, you are lubricating the joints which
keeps them from getting stiff. Although if you already have arthritis
you should take care and be sure to honor your body. |

A typical class begins with breath awareness to help the student to be present in her body, mind and spirit in this moment. Yoga stretches are then introduced to bring about a gradual energizing of muscle, bone, gland, circulatory and nervous systems. Asana (poses) continue the process to allow for the opportunity to develop strength, flexibility and balance in the student. Pranayama (breath control) is introduced in the class to experience the more subtle aspects of the energy body. All classes end with deep relaxation and meditation may be included. The essence of the class is to create an environment that will enhance the growth of the student and foster a sense of well being that can then flow into all aspects of life. Classes may vary from this depending on “inspiration” and or special requests from the student or class.

She believes in the positive results of yoga and helps people take these teachings outside of the studio and into their regular lives to achieve more peace and balance.
Aniko encourages her students to respect their body, work within their limits, follow their own path, and continue to learn and grow with joy. She strives to make all of her classes a positive and safe environment by creating an atmosphere of acceptance for everyone in the class and allowing each student the ability to become their own best teacher as they gain more awareness, focus and balance - physically, mentally and spiritually. Connection to the breath and listening to one's own body while being aware of individual strength, flexibility and limitations are emphasized as Aniko guides her students trough their practice with a sense of compassion, and nurturing.
"It is the most rewarding feeling when I give myself to people and make an impact on someone's life."
