Testimonial from student: Just wanted to drop you a line and express my extreme satisfaction in your classes, especially the very new and exciting Tribal Belly Dance class. I seriously was hesitant about "going tribal" after dedicatingy years to "classic, Turkish and cabarets styles"...but I am hooked! The instructor brought great energy, enthusiasm, patience and cool fun to the studio. Bridget made me feel like this was second nature and took me from hesitant to"... hey the class is over already?!..." Ha! She makes the hour fly by, it is so much fun meeting new people, dancing and learning that she leaves you craving more. There is a great synergy and levels of interest and talents emerging. This style is fresh and new to the industry and our area. Way to go! Love it, I am hooked and now a loyal fan. Dawn Gilley

What you need for class:

  • Please wear comfortable but fitted clothing. You do not have to bare your belly but please wear a fitted top and yoga-type pant so your instructor can see your posture and movements. A hip scarf will help accentuate your movements. (Jingly scarves are not necessary).
  • Many dancers prefer to dance barefoot, but a dance shoe/sandal may also be worn. Please no street clothes or shoes.
  • You may find a notebook useful as well.
  • If you would like a copy of class music to practice to at home, please bring a blank CD to your instructor and you will receive a copy the following class.

Instructor: Brigid has a diverse background in dance and a passion for both teaching and peforming. She is a member of the professional Philadelphia based troupe, Hipnosis which performs Improvisational Tribal Style Bellydance at venues across the country. She is the co-facilitator of PURE PA, a guerilla style bellydance company that brings the joy and beauty of Middle Eastern dance to the public in non-traditional venues.

Brigid has studied dance for as long as she can remember, beginning with ballet where she gained discipline and structure. As a college student she studied every type of dance she could, including ballroom, swing, folk, and even square dancing. In 2005 Brigid began studying cabaret style Bellydancing and soon after, was introduced to Tribal Bellydance. One taste of this earthy yet slinky form of dance, and it was love at first sight! It is her love and passion for this mesmerizing style that she brings to the classroom while creating a safe and nurturing environment for students of all levels and abilities.
